Investment Analyst

25 April 2025

Catella is a leading specialist in property investments and fund management, with operations in 12 countries. We are now strengthening our team and are looking for a team-oriented and business minded Analyst to join our expanding Principal Investment team in Stockholm.

Principal Investments

The Principal Investments team is responsible for the strategic deployment of Catella’s balance sheet capital to originate, structure, and manage joint ventures with external capital partners. The team’s core mandate is to generate recurring revenue through management fees while delivering strong investment performance across pan-European real estate markets.

By committing balance sheet capital—providing meaningful 'skin in the game'—Catella ensures alignment of interests and fosters long-term, value-creating partnerships with leading institutional investors. The team aims to strengthen Catella’s market presence, grow assets under management (AUM), and achieve superior risk-adjusted returns.

The Principal Investments team is mandated to invest across the full real estate lifecycle—from land acquisitions to refurbishment and repositioning projects—in the 12 European markets in which Catella operates.

The role

As an Investment Analyst on the Principal Investment team, you will play a key role in supporting the origination, evaluation, execution, and portfolio management of investments made using the firm’s balance sheet capital. This includes co-investments alongside institutional clients as well as direct investments in development projects.

You will be actively involved in underwriting new opportunities, preparing investment committee materials, conducting in-depth market and financial analysis, coordinating due diligence processes, and tracking portfolio performance. Your role will help ensure optimal deployment of capital and alignment with both financial return targets and strategic partnership objectives.

This role offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a dynamic and expanding business area, working in a small, agile team alongside experienced and highly skilled colleagues. The position is based at Catella’s headquarters on Birger Jarlsgatan in Stockholm and will involve occasional travel within Europe.

Key responsibilities and tasks include

  • Perform detailed financial modelling and scenario analysis for pan-European real estate acquisitions, developments, and joint ventures.
  • Assist in preparing investment committee memos and presentations.
  • Conduct market research, competitive benchmarking, and due diligence on potential investment opportunities.
  • Assist in the monitoring and reporting of portfolio performance, including quarterly valuations and business plan tracking, to the Board of Directors at Catella.
  • Work in collaboration with multiple teams within Catella across Europe.
  • Coordinate with internal functions (Legal, Asset Management, Development) and external advisors (brokers, consultants, lawyers).
  • Help develop strategic insights that guide capital deployment decisions and enhance deal sourcing efforts.
  • Carrying out ad hoc tasks and activities that may arise within the team.

Qualification and suitable background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Engineering, or related field. 0-2 years of full-time experience in real estate investment, corporate finance, investment banking, or consulting. Experience with real estate modeling and transactions preferred.
  • If you graduate this year, we see that you have had an internship or worked extra hours on top of your studies in a relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft 365, specifically in PowerPoint and Excel, including proficiency in financial modelling (DCF, IRR, sensitivities, JV waterfalls).
  • Basic understanding of real estate capital markets and investment structures (e.g., equity, debt, forwards, JVs).
  • Excellent communication abilities in both English and Swedish, encompassing both written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and critical thinking.

We attach great importance to your personality, your commitment and drive. To thrive and succeed with us, you should be a social person with a positive attitude who is stimulated by a dynamic and team-oriented work environment.
